Denise works as SGS Environment’s Wildlife and Lands Assistant managing St’at’imc lands and resources based on existing Land Use Plans. She is currently working towards unifying the existing plans and in the future will work on forming the St’at’imc Lands and Resource Plan that will be created collaboratively as a nation.
Previously Denise has worked as a cultural heritage worker and an archeologist assistant for the Lillooet Tribal Council. She also worked as a Native Unity Crew Leader for the Ministry of Forests performing Danger Tree Assessing, surveys, and Environmental Assessments for proposed projects.
Denise attended Vancouver Island University to obtain an Aboriginal Environmental Assessment Certification, a Fisheries Certificate, and a Supervisor Electrofishing Certificate. She holds a Forestry Certificate from Nicola Valley Institute of Technology and a Business Administration Diploma from Okanagan University. Denise has also completed intermediate level Silviculture Survey Training from Selkirk Management.
Denise is St’at’imc and Carrier. Her mother is from X’ax’li’p and her father is a member of the Frog Clan from the Nakazdli nation located in Fort St James. Her career goal is to work in her home community to help the nation move toward managing its own Territory.
