Education + Training Overview

The St’át’imc Education and Training (SET) program promotes quality education and training to ensure St’át’imc members, individually and collectively, are prepared for opportunities to meaningfully participate in their communities and the economy.

Capacity Building Opportunities

The SET program works in close partnership with other organizations and training institutes including St’át’imc community education and other departments, Thompson Rivers University, University of British Columbia, University of Northern British Columbia, and Natural Resource Training Group. In partnership with BC Hydro, SET has been able to support St’át’imc members and businesses with ongoing capacity building.

Trades Sampler Program

Explore a Future in Trades with the TRU Trade Sampler Program – Lillooet Campus

St’át’imc Government Services, Thompson Rivers University, and BC Hydro Indigenous Employment and Training have partnered to offer a Trade Sampler Program for St’át’imc Members from May 26 to August 15, 2025, at the TRU Lillooet Campus.

This hands-on program is a valuable opportunity for participants to explore three different trades and discover which path may be the right fit. Along the way, students will gain industry-recognized certifications and practical skills in:

  • Safe workplace practices
  • Building techniques
  • Skill development
  • Introduction to design
  • Planning and project coordination

Program Highlights:

  • Tuition is fully covered
  • Basic tools and certifications provided
  • Living and training allowances are not included; however, we are happy to collaborate with participants to help identify potential funding sources as needed
